Assignment Alert

The crash at Amazon is still making Edmodo unsteady. If you can't get in to do your homework tonight, DON"T WORRY! Check periodically a couple of times and call it good. :o) Your assignment is not due tomorrow if we can't get in to Edmodo within 30 minutes. It's nearly 4:30 now. Thanks for checking the blog.

Keyboarding: 15 minutes each week.  First 30 minutes due before Tuesday, October 23.  Cards will be marked for under 30 minutes tomorrow.

Reading: Spelling test #7 today. If students want to get some credit back for missed words, they know what to do (write the words correctly, in cursive, seven times, and get it signed). This is due Wednesday. New words written four times due tomorrow, with the test next Monday:

Language Arts:   New MyAccess.com Assignment!  Persuasive Five Paragraph Essay:  Space Shuttle Mission. Due: Monday morning, November 5.  Prompt: Write a five paragraph essay convincing your principal that you should be the student chosen to represent your school on the next space shuttle mission. Students should have their first Three paragraphs typed.  If not, they are behind and will need to work on their essay at home.  Parents: Have your student read to you out loud what they have written.  This is the best way to help students figure out what they need to do to improve their writing.

Writing Lab: Mrs. Packard has bus duty after school this week and will not be able to have the writing lab at that time.  The writing lab will be during lunch recess from 12:45-1:15 on Monday-Thursday.  

Math:  Workbook p. 49-52 if not finished in class.  Due 10/23.  Progress report signed also due 10/23.

Science:  No homework. This is a GREAT time to catch up with any missing work.

PTA Reflections Contest:  This is not required of all sixth grade students.  It is only for those students who want to participate.  The entries are due Monday, October 29.  This long weekend would be a good time to work on your projects.  Entering the PTA Reflections Contest counts as one of the Fantastic Falcon Award points for sixth grade, too.  However, you don't have to win in order to count it for Fantastic Falcon.

Reading: Spelling test #6 today. If students want to get some credit back they must look the words up on last Monday's blog, write words correctly 7 times in beautiful cursive writing, get it signed, and turn it into their color basket by Wednesday. Not accepted after Wednesday.
New spelling words written 4 times due tomorrow. Test will be next Monday on the following words: (no change/add -ion) construct, construction, connect, connection, attract, attraction

Science:  Read the "Shiniest Moon" and "Shiny Earth" on Edmodo. Watch "Polar Bear Plight".  Write 1-3 sentences about something that you learned after you click, TURN IN. Make sure that you write complete sentences and that you proof for spelling, grammar, and capitalization mistakes. Finally, take the short quiz about your reading. Due tomorrow.

Pixton Comic: You must have it posted to the grade book AND to your home base class. If you want everyone to see your comic, you can post to science. That is optional. It is REQUIRED to have your comic posted to your home base class.
